My favorite room in the house

Is actually not a room that is in my house at all. It's my wonderful sunroom. After a heavy ice and snowfall in the Winter 2009/2010 left our old sunroom's roof buckling (literally), we decided last summer to take the time and redo that room. We replaced the sunroom's frame, roof, sanded and repainted the concrete floors, and also replaced all the screens and doors. Now it is, hands down my favorite space in the house. Two weeks ago we officially "opened"the sunroom for entertaining and relaxing. Now most of my time is either spent enjoying a quiet morning while sipping my coffee or relaxing at night while enjoying the views of my garden and playing on my new iPad 2 (Squeal)!

Last year I was lucky enough to score this sweet wicker set for $30 on Craiglist (CL rocks!). After I contacted the seller, I literally grabbed the hubby, jumped in the car and rushed over to the seller's house, just she wouldn't sell it to anyone else. The whole transaction took about an hour. The set was perfect except for the colors.

And After  - I added a few coats of Rustoluem's Painters Touch spray paint (in Satin Espresso) and a ton of cushions from Homegoods and Viola - a whole new look that I just love.
An old toy box got a makeover with the same spray paint. I use this to hold sporting equipment and water guns.

But guess what?? It's not complete. Currently I have this chandelier hanging in the sunroom.

It's just too big for the space and it also a fire hazard. I can't really enjoy the candlelight when I am worried about the screens melting now can I? This needs to be replaced ASAP.. but with what?
A look like this this?
Or maybe not have something hang but polace a large reed lantern on the table?
Decisions.. decisions ... What do you think?

I totally understand you. Sun rooms are the best thing ever!

Love how you transformed the sofa. I have a similar one that I'd like to paint, but I am not sure it will work because the choice of paint is quite limited (due to this being a smaller market with quite strict regulation on all chemical stuff).

Good luck in your light-fixture-hunting. Personally I would go for electrical lights, because candles always make me nervous. So easy to forget.

Looks great. I'm wanting to stain my wicker darker too. As for the lighting, my vote is the lanterns on the table.

You did a great job making over the wicker with fresh paint. It looks brand new. You also have a lovely space out there. Our HomeSense has wicker and metal lanterns with solar candles or battery candles if you are worried about safety, and you may be able to find some in a home decor store near you.

I can see why its your favorite room in the house...well sort of in the house. It looks huge. The wicker looks so much nicer now. I like the candlier (spelling?) with the crystals. I love fancy with casual. So nice together. Thank you for visiting my porch.

What a great space you have created. I can see why it is a favorite. I am a huge fan of Homegoods, too and have one less than a mile from my home.

Happy summer . . . fondly,

Looking good! You did an outstanding job on the wicker makeover and you just can't go wrong with craigslist...so many great deals out there. I see we both enjoy our outdoor living spaces...I much rather be outside than inside.

Blessings,
Linda

Stopping over from Ten June's Summer Fun Link Party. Love this makeover. Don't you just love what paint does to completely change the look of something. Hope you will stop by my blog and say Hi! :) Thanks for sharing!

Love your look and the work you've done. You're making a lovely home.
That is fact, not flattery.

The following should be viewed as "information" and not criticism...
'Viola' is a string instrument similar to a violin.
'Voila' is a french word indicating "there you are".
Former teachers just can't give up teaching... please forgive me. :)
