February Already?

So how is 2013 treating you so far? Me? Great! Seems like 2013 has left me running around like a crazy person, exactly like 2012. With the normal craziness that goes with being a working mom/wife, I decided that I was going to make 2013 all about ME! Yep me, me, me me me! Less worrying about other people (I'm still working on that part) and more worrying about me. My health, my happiness and just things that make "T" happy. Trust me, Mamma needs this.  We all live our crazy lives trying to fit in friends and our loved ones, but when you don't take care of you, who will? So I decided I was going to take care of things that were not what I want them to be. My health - working out more and joined a gym! My eating habits - I started Paleo and I gotta say I love it! I also added a few mental things I am just putting my foot down too, but so far I'm loving 2013!

2013 also lit some kind of fire under my husband and my neighbor's arse. They have been creative genius's lately. Check out my new Farm style kitchen table. Can you say love?
This lovely thing literally took the guys 4 days to build. It's made of pine and cost us around $120 for everything - You can't beat that! The stain is Dark Walnut from Rustoleum. {Love}. Oh and please ignore the chairs. They are loaners until I paint and reupholster my "new" chairs, which is my next project.
The metal turn buckle that acts as additional support is handmade. Actually all the added hardware on this table was either distressed or made by hand. Creative genius' I tell yah. Check out these painted and distressed carriage bolts they used for a decorative touch. They are all over the table, and they thought of it all on their own. I'll take more detailed pictures after the chairs are done!
Pretty snazzy.
Wanna see their next project?

This gorgeous thing is a wood headboard in a Chevron pattern. I couldn't believe that they actually made this pattern themselves. The wood is reclaimed wood that we found at this adorable antique store, Pheasant Run Antiques. If you live in the Lancaster PA area, I highly recommend a trip. How gorgeous is this?
Tell me, how's it going? Any major projects going on with you?

Happy New Year!

Another year goes by, and I really can't say that I'm sorry to see 2012 go. Although there were lots of wonderful moments this year, including vacations and time spent with loved ones. A new year can be full of promise and hopes for what will come. I am definitely a glass half full so I'm betting that 2013 will be even better!

Wishing you all the best in the coming year!

Did It: Our 1st: Family Portraits!

It's hard to believe that my oldest daughter is 20 years old and we have never had a professional family portrait taken with just the 4 of us. How crazy is that?
What is it about taking family pictures that stresses everyone out so much? A few months ago, our girls (and the hubby) were given the "how much this really means to me" speech just so I would not have to hear the dreaded "this sucks and no I don't want to do it" comments (they still made them).

Since this was our 1st Professional family portrait,  I knew I wanted 2 things. One, they had to taken outside, and two, it had to be during the Fall. Perfect choices by me if I do say so myself. I decided to go to the Barclay Farmstead for the gorgeous Fall foliage and also the old Farmhouse and bridge were the perfect background. Next picked a photographer. I went with Lilyanna Sarah's Photography. Again, great choice by me. I can not say enough wonderful things about Natalie. She was creative, fun, and completely made the girls (and us adults) feel like it might actually be kinda "fun" to do this picture thing.  She also welcomed all my crazy ideas for the pictures. The photo shoot was pretty quick and after we were finished, the husband even said that was kind of fun! And I LOVE how the pics came out.

Here are some of my favorites:
Me and my girls.
I love how the colors just pop in the pictures
The girls. Love all the woods in the background.
They really do love each other!
My Family!
The barn colors go great with our color scheme don't yah think?
Love

If you're in the Philly/Southern NJ area and need a Photographer.. I highly highly recommend Lilyanna Sarah Photography!
