Comparing Acorns to Acorns

While I was taking a Pottery Barn decorating class a few weeks ago, I picked up a PB hurricane candle holder with intentions of filling it with faux acorns (just like PB), but Pottery Barn sold their faux acorns for $14 a bag. Um no thank you. I'll try and find them cheaper.

and I did. Walmart had them for $3 a bag. Yep, just $3. The bags are smaller than PB's but 2 bags make up the difference and all for still just for $6. Yes - thank you very much!
My Hurricane candle holder with those $3 acorns.

  1. Love your acorns in the hurricane! I have a little cloche I filled with acorns this year too- real ones gathered from the yard - Love how it looks! Your acorns look great in the jar, Walmart gets some good deals sometimes and who would think they would have the same thing as PB? Great score! :)

  9. I am going to collect a bunch of the real ones. I saw the $3 ones at Walmart but I can't pass up free.

What is a Pottery Barn Decorating Class? Sounds right up my alley.

  10. Great find!

I bought some from my local dollar store, Royal Bargains. The bags were smaller so I had to buy several bags, but surely not $14 worth of fake acorns! PB has neat stuff, but the prices are insane.

  21. I have three tall PartyLite candle jars. I change them out to compliment the seasons (righ now, shells). Around this time last year, while making Fall plans, I bought REAL acorns. Very expensive. This year, I thought I'd try the faux, so I went to the craft stores thinking it was a no-brainer. They didn't have them, so next I went online and found some, including those at PB, which, I agree, are too pricey. LOVE that Walmart has them. Heading to the one in Marlton tonight! THANKS!
    Another SJ girl...
PS, in October, I use candy corn!
