I would like to call on my followers to help settle a little disagreement the hubby and I are having. With much hopes and luck, I will start a makeover on my LR/DR (a slow process). Along with wonderful ideas I got from Michelle, I have a few that I am just dying to incorporate into this bland space. One of them being additional lighting for over the sectional and I just LOVE love the idea of having a large swing arm wall sconce with shade in this area below. It's screaming for something, I just hope lighting is it.
The problem? The hubby is saying nay and he also thinks it will look dated and ugly. He doesn't mince words now does he? Normally I could give 2 bleeps about what he says about what I do around the house, but since it is half his house and if he feels this strongly about it, could I be wrong? Looking at these inspirational photos makes me think I am so freaking right. It makes the space feel cozy and it's also functional.
Right?
What do you think?
He's wrong (and I am right) right? Humor me here ladies.

Swing arm lamps are IN! (ok, maybe not the shiny brass ones) They look great in nickle or ORB! That said, you still have to live with your honey...so hmmm?
Every now and then my husband tries to step in and state his opinion about a decorating dilemma. The best thing you can do it humor him by acting like you are listening to his side and them bombard him with photos of what you want to do to get him used to the idea. I swear, men have such a hard time visualizing things sometimes! LOL! Thanks for stopping by with your kind comments about my bathroom!
Yep! You are so right and I bet when it's all done and your guests comment on how great it looks it will have been all HIS idea {smile}!
I'm liking the swing arm lamps and have seen some great things done with them lately here in blogland. I say go for it, hubby will thank you later. PS and by the way, we have them over our night stands in our BR and my hubby loves them...so much so that when I talked about replacing them with cool lamps, he said "no way!"
Cathy
They are darling!
Luvs!
